I am so excited to share an elevated technique that I just learned. I have already tried it on about 5 clients and the results have been amazing. I call it Massage Gun Trigger Point Therapy .
History:
I have been doing trigger point therapy for almost my entire massage career. I love, love, love it. Trigger point therapy is when the massage therapist finds a specific knot within a muscle and applies firm, steady pressure until they feel the knot melt under their fingers. It can be very effective, but requires patience, and because the majority of clients I see have lots of trigger points, it can take a while to do. Usually I use the massage gun to loosen up a client so the process goes faster, but I have never used them both together.
Melissa's Technique:
I go to a chiropractor on a regular basis, and a few weeks ago there was a "new to the clinic" chiropractor that had just joined. I ended up seeing him, and it turned out he used to be a massage therapist before being a chiropractor. He asked me if I did trigger point therapy, to which I replied I did. Then he asked if I had ever done the combo of trigger point therapy and a massage gun at the same time.
I was intrigued. He explained that as I pressed on a trigger point, if I placed the massage gun on the pad of my thumb, the vibration from the gun and the steady pressure of my thumb would help the trigger point melt much faster.
Education:
Like the chiropractor did for me, I told one of the massage therapist I know about the technique so that his clients could experience this awesome upgrade.
The Results:
Like I said before, I have tried it on some of my patients and have been absolutely floored by the results. It is a game changer in the world of trigger point therapy.
