Hamstring Pain: The Massage Technique That Helped A Retired USA Soccer Pro's Hamstrings

History:

I first met this gentleman two years after he retired from Team U.S.A. men's soccer team. He now had an office job, where he sat for most of the day. He had reported various injuries from soccer, so I knew I would be working through a lot of scar tissue. Although, it was his hamstrings that brought him in to see me.

Melissa's Technique:

This happened before I had learned cupping, so my best line of defense back then was active release therapy and the hammy chisel. Although, in his case, the hamstring pain wasn't coming completely from his hamstrings. The hamstring pain was also coming from a trigger point in his gluteus minimus (number 2) or butt and was referring the pain down into his hamstrings. So, I did the glut minimus smasher technique with him.

Education:

His education was explaining to him about referral pain and showing him the trigger point in his butt that he could work to help his hamstrings feel better.

The Results:

He reported that his hamstring felt so much better after just the first massage. Not perfect, but much better.

Invitation:

What works for one person is not guaranteed to work for everyone.

This is why Melissa's Mobile Massage customizes her client's sessions. The name of the massage techniques above is typically not a proper term for a technique, therefore other massage therapists would not know what a glut minimus smasher 2 technique is.
