My husband and I have moved around a bit. Through different circumstances we have ended up moving to different states over the years. Before moving to West Melbourne, Florida we lived in Madison, Alabama. It is there that I decided that I was finally going to take a leap of faith and start my own business.
The first year I was there I rented an office space and was lucky enough to get connected with an owner of a local gym. He let me come into his gyms and do massages there to help me build up my clientele. Toward the end of the first year, the business owner talked about expanding and including an office for me.
That sounded great, so I gave my notice to the office manager that I would be leaving his building. Then, the gym owner messaged me and said that plans had been put on hold. This was totally understandable but left me in a bind.
That is when I decided that I would do mobile massage for my clients until the new gym was built. Then COVID happened and God blessed me so much by putting me in that situation, because I didn't have to continue to pay for an office I couldn't use.
I was the only one in the area that advertised for mobile massage. I literally became known as THE massage therapist because I was the only massage therapist in the area that did mobile massage. I was surprised when we moved to West Melbourne, Florida to see that there is a healthy amount of mobile massage therapists in this area.
However, each massage therapist seems to have their own specialty and becomes known for something that sets them apart. I know that my clients in the past have liked that I am small and mighty; known for my deep tissue massage; and that I am good at figuring out complex issues.
